How to Upgrade Unsupported PCs to Windows 11 Using FlyBy11

Are you stuck on Windows 10 because your PC doesn’t meet Windows 11’s official system requirements? Don’t worry—there’s a way around it. Microsoft may tell you your PC is too old to upgrade, but in many cases, that’s simply not true. With the help of a tool called FlyBy11, you can bypass Windows 11’s hardware checks and install the OS on many unsupported devices. This guide will walk you through the process step by step.

📌 Why You Might Need This Guide

Windows 10 will reach its end-of-life in October 2025, meaning it will no longer receive security updates. If your device is still running Windows 10 and isn’t eligible for an official upgrade to Windows 11, it’s time to act—especially if you use the PC regularly or in a business setting.

🚫 The Problem: Windows 11 Hardware Requirements

Microsoft requires your PC to meet several hardware conditions to officially support Windows 11, including:

  • TPM 2.0 (Trusted Platform Module)
  • Secure Boot
  • Specific supported processors

However, many of these requirements are not truly essential to run the OS—they’re enforced by Microsoft’s setup process, not the software itself. This means your PC could run Windows 11 just fine if not for these artificial restrictions.

✅ The Solution: FlyBy11

FlyBy11 is an open-source tool designed to bypass these hardware checks and initiate the Windows 11 installer in a special mode that skips compatibility enforcement.

⚠️ Disclaimer

Use this tool at your own risk.
Installing Windows 11 on unsupported hardware may:

  • Prevent future feature updates from installing automatically
  • Void support from Microsoft or your PC manufacturer
  • Result in limited compatibility with future apps or drivers

Always back up your files before proceeding.

🛠️ What You’ll Need

  1. A PC running Windows 10
  2. FlyBy11 (download the latest version from GitHub)
  3. A stable internet connection
  4. Admin access to your PC

🧭 Step-by-Step Guide

1. Check Official Compatibility

Go to Settings > Windows Update and look for the Windows 11 banner. Click “Check hardware requirements” to download the PC Health Check tool. Run the tool—it will likely say your PC isn’t compatible.

Don’t worry—that’s where FlyBy11 comes in.

2. Download and Extract FlyBy11

  • Visit the official FlyBy11 GitHub page
  • Click on Releases
  • Download the latest do.zip file
  • Extract the contents to a folder

You may see a security warning from Windows—click More Info > Run anyway

3. Launch FlyBy11

The tool will perform its own compatibility check. This one is more honest and realistic than Microsoft’s version. If you see two green check marks, you’re good to proceed.

If not, and one or both marks are red, your hardware may truly not be capable of running Windows 11 reliably. In that case, consider switching to Linux or upgrading your PC.

4. Download the Windows 11 ISO

You can:

  • Download the ISO manually from Microsoft’s website, OR
  • Use FlyBy11’s built-in FTO ISO Downloader tool

Make sure to choose:

  • Edition: Home/Pro/Education
  • Language: Match your current Windows language exactly (e.g., English – United States)
  • Architecture: Choose x64 for most PCs

5. Select ISO and Start Installation

Once the ISO is downloaded:

  • In FlyBy11, go to More Options > Select from Computer
  • Choose the ISO file
  • The tool will launch the Windows setup in “Server mode” (but it will install the regular desktop version of Windows 11)

You’ll see the standard Windows installer interface. Follow the prompts.

6. Installation Tips

  • Choose what to keep: Ensure “Keep files, apps, and settings” is selected. If this option is greyed out, you likely chose the wrong ISO language. Start over with the correct language setting.
  • Download updates during install: This is the recommended option.
  • Let the installer complete: Your PC will reboot several times. Be patient.

7. After Installation

Once installation completes:

  • Log in as usual
  • You’ll be taken to the new Windows 11 desktop
  • Open Settings > Windows Update and check for updates manually

Some future Windows 11 feature updates might not install automatically. If that happens, simply run FlyBy11 again using a newer ISO.

🌱 Why This Matters

Using FlyBy11 is not just about saving money—it’s about keeping functional hardware in use, reducing e-waste, and extending the life of your computer. Microsoft’s restrictions aren’t always necessary, and this tool proves it.

      Dear Brain,
🧠 Why Does Windows Setup Remove the “Keep Files” Option?
Windows Setup only allows you to keep your personal files, apps, and settings if the following match between your current system and the installation media (ISO):

      Language
      Edition (Home, Pro, etc.)
      Architecture (64-bit vs 32-bit)
So if your PC is currently using English (United States) but you try to upgrade using a Windows 11 English (International) ISO, Windows sees a language mismatch and disables the option to preserve your data.

However, there is still a chance to retain the files and settings with ustom ISO Using UUP Dump…. you can find the complete blog here:
