Hi everyone, I’m having a frustrating issue with my Windows 11 PC. I tried to install the latest cumulative update this morning, but the installation progress got stuck at 45% and hasn’t moved for over three hours now. The PC isn’t frozen though—I can move the mouse and open Task Manager, but the update window remains on that same percentage.

My device is a Dell XPS 15 running Windows 11 Pro, version 22H2. I’ve already tried restarting the computer a couple of times, but it just attempts to install the update again and gets stuck at 45%. I’ve also run the Windows Update Troubleshooter but it didn’t find any problems. Has anyone else experienced this with Windows 11 updates? Any advice on how to safely get past this without risking data loss would be appreciated.

@Anita Khanna I had the same issue with the update hanging at 45%. What worked for me was forcing a restart, then running the Windows Update Troubleshooter from the settings. After that, the update resumed and completed without getting stuck again. You might want to give that a shot before trying more drastic measures.

Same thing happened to me with the latest cumulative update on my Windows 11 machine. It got stuck at 45% for hours, so I eventually forced a reboot. After that, the update kept trying and failing repeatedly. I ended up having to run the Windows Update troubleshooter and even reset the update components via command prompt before it finally went through. Really frustrating bug!
