ParticipantHi everyone, I recently updated my PC to the latest Windows 11 build 22621.1, and since then, the Start menu has become completely unresponsive. Clicking the Start button or pressing the Windows key doesn’t bring up the menu at all. I also noticed that right-click context menus on the taskbar are delayed and sometimes freeze momentarily.
I’ve tried rebooting several times and ran the System File Checker tool, which didn’t find any integrity violations. I’m using a Dell XPS 15 with the latest Nvidia drivers, so I’m wondering if this might be a compatibility issue with the graphics driver or something else in the update. If anyone has tips on how to troubleshoot or fix Start menu issues in Windows 11 after updates, I’d appreciate the advice. Thanks!

ParticipantThis is a known issue with build 22621.1 where the Start menu can become unresponsive. Try restarting the Windows Explorer process from Task Manager: press Ctrl+Shift+Esc, find “Windows Explorer” under Processes, right-click and select Restart. If that doesn’t work, running the System File Checker might help—open Command Prompt as admin and type `sfc /scannow`. Sometimes a clean boot can identify if a third-party app is interfering with the Start menu.

ParticipantI’m on the same build (22621.1) and the Start menu freeze bug is driving me nuts too. Tried restarting the Windows Explorer process like some guides suggested, but it didn’t help at all. Also attempted a system file check (sfc /scannow), but no corrupted files found and the issue persists. Feels like this update really messed something critical up. Hopefully, MS releases a fix soon.
