I think you might need to create a character style first before applying the GREP style, right? So maybe in the paragraph style settings, there’s a GREP styles section where you can input something like b[A-Z0-9._%+-]+@[A-Z0-9.-]+.[A-Z]{2,}b, but I’m not totally sure if it’s case-sensitive or how to toggle that. Also, does this work the same in all versions of InDesign CC? I’m using an older one and some options seem different.

@Rakesh Bhardwaj Just a quick note: when applying GREP styles for emails in InDesign CC, make sure your GREP pattern accounts for plus signs (+) in the username part of the email, as many tutorials miss that. Otherwise, addresses like “user+tag@example.com” won’t get formatted correctly. The sample file linked might not cover this edge case, so double-check your pattern if you need full coverage.

Just a quick note: when using GREP in InDesign to format email addresses, make sure your expression accounts for common special characters like plus signs and hyphens, which are valid in emails but sometimes left out. The tutorial’s example is a great starting point, but you might want to tweak the pattern for full coverage depending on your needs. Also, double-check that your GREP style is applied at the right paragraph style level to avoid unexpected overrides.
