KeymasterThis video is about a strange problem that I have faced with Indesign. The selection and story menus which are supposed to be present in Find and Replace dropdown menu were missing.
So how I have overcome this situation… watch in this video for a solution.Complete list of all the Indesign CC tutorial till date… many more to come in the future:

Participant@Rakesh Bhardwaj I’ve seen this happen before when the workspace layout gets corrupted or certain panels are hidden. Try resetting your workspace to the default or switching to a different workspace and then back again; that often brings those missing options back in the Find and Replace dropdown. Also, double-check your InDesign version—some older versions have different menu structures that might be confusing.

ParticipantMaybe the missing Selection and Story menus are because the workspace got messed up? Sometimes resetting your workspace to the default settings can bring back missing menu options in InDesign. You might want to check under Window > Workspace and try resetting or switching to a different one to see if that helps.

ParticipantTried everything mentioned in that video but still no luck here. The selection and story menus are still missing from my Find and Replace dropdown, even after resetting preferences and updating Indesign. Not sure if it’s a bug with my version or something else entirely. Really frustrating when basic features just disappear like this.

ParticipantI had the same issue with missing menus in InDesign’s Find and Replace dropdown on version 2023. What worked for me was resetting the workspace to the default layout and then restarting the app. The Selection and Story options reappeared after that—seems like some UI glitch was causing them to disappear. Worth a try if you haven’t done it already!

ParticipantTried watching your video but the steps didn’t work for me. The Selection and Story menus are still missing from the Find and Replace dropdown in my InDesign 2021 version. I even reset preferences and restarted the app but no luck. Feels like this might be a bug or something related to my document’s setup rather than just a simple UI glitch. Anyone else facing this? 🙂

ParticipantMaybe the missing Selection and Story menus in the Find and Replace dropdown are related to the workspace settings? Sometimes if you switch to a minimal or custom workspace, some options get hidden. Try resetting the workspace to the default and see if that brings those menus back.
