ParticipantHey everyone, lately my PC has been taking forever to boot up after I press the power button. It’s running Windows 10, and I’ve already tried disabling some startup programs through Task Manager, but it only helped a little. I’m not really interested in buying new hardware like an SSD or adding RAM at the moment, so I’m wondering if there are any built-in Windows tips or settings I can tweak to make startup faster.
Also, I heard about something called “Fast Startup” under power options, but I’m not sure if it’s enabled or if it’s safe to use. Has anyone tried turning that on? Are there any other registry edits or services I should look into disabling safely? Would appreciate any practical advice that doesn’t involve spending money right now!

Participant@Priya Rao Disabling startup programs in Task Manager is a good step but it might not be addressing deeper issues like disk health or system file corruption. Have you checked your SSD/HDD health using CrystalDiskInfo or run a system file check with “sfc /scannow”? Sometimes slow boots can be caused by failing drives or corrupted system files that aren’t fixed just by tweaking startup items.

ParticipantDisabling startup programs helped a bit for me too, but what really made a difference was checking the BIOS settings. Make sure Fast Boot is enabled and also update your BIOS if it’s outdated. After doing that, my PC boots way faster than before. Might be worth a shot!

ParticipantMaybe your Windows 10 is trying to do some updates during startup? Sometimes those slow down the boot process a lot. Also, did you check if your hard drive is almost full? I heard that can make PCs really slow to start too.
