Hi everyone, I’m working on a pretty extensive InDesign project with dozens of text styles already applied, but I just realized that the client wants me to tweak the font size and line spacing for several paragraph styles. Manually adjusting each one is going to take forever, and I’m worried about missing some instances.

Is there a faster way to update multiple styles at once or apply changes globally? I’ve tried redefining styles by selecting some text, but it doesn’t feel efficient when I have so many to change. Also, will updating styles affect instances where I manually overrode the formatting? I want to make sure the document stays consistent without losing carefully applied adjustments.

Any helpful tips or tricks to handle style management more efficiently in InDesign would be much appreciated! Thanks!

If you need to adjust font size and line spacing across multiple paragraph styles, the best way is to use the Paragraph Styles panel. You can select each style, edit it, and update the size and leading there so all text using that style updates automatically. If you have a lot of styles, try duplicating one style and modifying it, then applying the new style where needed instead of editing all individually. This keeps things consistent and saves tons of time.
