Hi everyone, I recently updated my PC to Windows 11 version 22H2, and since then, my favorite game, Cyberpunk 2077, crashes immediately after launching. The game was running fine on my previous Windows 10 setup. I’ve tried reinstalling the game and updating my NVIDIA drivers to the latest version 531.79, but the problem persists. When I try to run the game, I get an error message that says “DirectX encountered an unrecoverable error.”

I’ve also verified that my system meets all the minimum specs, and DirectX 12 is enabled. I suspect this might be related to some recent Windows updates affecting the graphics API compatibility, but I’m unsure how to troubleshoot further. Has anyone experienced similar crashes after the Windows 11 upgrade or found any effective workarounds? Any help would be much appreciated!

@Priya Das Just updated to Windows 11 22H2 as well and noticed the same crashes with Cyberpunk 2077. What worked for me was running the game in compatibility mode for Windows 10 and disabling fullscreen optimizations. After that, it launched and stayed stable for several hours of gameplay. Might be worth a shot if you haven’t tried it yet.

Maybe the new Windows 11 update changed some settings that the game needs? I’d check if the graphics drivers are still compatible or need updating. Sometimes games crash if the display resolution or compatibility mode is off after an update like 22H2.

@Priya Das The update to Windows 11 version 22H2 has introduced some compatibility issues with certain games, including Cyberpunk 2077. Reinstalling the game alone might not fix the crash because it could be related to outdated graphics drivers or missing DirectX components after the upgrade. Make sure your GPU drivers are fully up to date from the manufacturer’s site and try running the game as an administrator. Also, check if any overlay software (like Discord or Steam overlays) are causing conflicts by disabling them temporarily.

After updating to Windows 11 22H2, I also had Cyberpunk 2077 crash on launch. What helped me was running the game as administrator and disabling the fullscreen optimizations in the compatibility settings. It seems like some new Windows 11 graphics policies are conflicting with the game, so this workaround stabilized it for me. Worth a shot if you haven’t tried it yet.
